Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Sorry if this has been done before, but what are the options to retrofit a hard-wired ipod connection? The CDR 22 has 2 spare sockets to connect a Porsche or Sony MD or CD changer, but OPC's don't recommend any ipod retro fits and don't seem to have a Porsche option either.

POST 2Original post

Have you considered ipod radio interface? Unsure if they are legal in the UK yet but certainly in use. Simply connect your ipod to the interface, choose a free frequency example 93.4FM , set the radio and the IF to the same settings and away you go.. perfect sound, my mate has one he purchased his off Ebay USA

POST 3Original post

If you live in any built up area those i-trip transmitters are useless. Have a read of this thread for an alternative. http://www.6speedonline.com/forums/996/143634-how-install-iporsche-ipod-integration-system.html I've got one just haven't installed it yet... :thumb:

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Nice one Stuart, thanks for the link. I have tried the FM transmitters and agree, they are useless.

POST 5Original post

I just bought a £3 3.5mm cable, cut one end off, soldered the other to the existing CD changer control left right input and job done. Basically same as the link, just with Maplin parts. Easy to reverse too.

POST 6Original post

I swapped my auto changer to an IPod. I just unplugged the autochanger phono cables and plugged in a phono to 3.5mm head phone cable and re-routed it to the centre console. You activate the aux input on the head unit and it works a treat. I am trying to fathom a way to charge the IPod and listen at the same time with one cable but I have not managed this yet.

POST 7Original post

I swapped the CDR22 for an Alpine iDA-X001 Headunit with colour screen and full ipod functionality. http://www.alpine-europe.com/ The ipod is now permanently in the car. Album artwork comes on screen, ipod like wheel allows you to increase volume etc., ipod always fully charged, 24 bit digital processor so sound quality is superb. I am very happy with it & would recommend it.

POST 8Original post

I went with the Dension Gateway (from memory 100) which works great. It replaced the CD Changer connection in the back of the head unit but gives me full Ipod charging and control through the CDR22. I think that I remember reading that it is no longer available new from Dension, but might be worth looking on Ebay etc
