I have the PCM1 satnav, with 6 CD changer, and quite happy to replace the CD changer with some sort of AUX switch.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

12 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi The m0bridge thing is not compatible with my MY2000 PCM1, none fibre stereo. I've heard rumours that the Dension is, but the Dension website compatibility checker shows pre-2003 996's as not supported. So, other than this crappy FM transmitter I'm using is there any other way of playing my iPod or iPhone in the car. I have the PCM1 satnav, with 6 CD changer, and quite happy to replace the CD changer with some sort of AUX switch. Just want to hear from someone, with a pre-MOST 996, who has actually got this working. TIA Shaun

POST 2Original post

Hi Shaun - I'm in the same situation as yourself, and i'm looking for a way to connect my iPhone to PCM1. I found this which would appear to do the job http://www.solisto.de/nl/index.php?page=beschreibung&numpro=extra&lang=en but i have don't done anything about it yet...

POST 3Original post

http://www.solisto.de/nl/index.php?lang=en&page=radios&numpage=1&numpro=extra&auto=5&numradio=110 It clains to support PCM1

POST 4Original post

To connect an iPod to the PCM1, has anyone used Connects2 iPlug-RDS TX MKII iPod Adapter ? http://www.ipodcarkitdirect.co.uk/i...ator/Connects2_iPlug-RDS_TX_MKII_iPod_Adapter I like ths sound of this as its able to send track, album and artist information directly to the stereos display and provides for charging of the iPod. I'm headed over to France in 2 weeks so have ordered one and will see how it fits at the weekend .... Thanks Tim

POST 5Original post

Seems to be getting very complicated. My PCM1 cassette adaptor works rather well. Not bad for 99p

POST 6Original post

I am using a cassette adapter at the mo -But TBH its a bit pants to say the least. you get what you pay for i guess. (except in the case of Sat Nav in a 911) Anyway i do digress... Tim - I Would be very interested if you could post a follow up once you have installed. :thumb:

POST 7Original post

OK - the adaptor arrived in the post today and I'm planning the install on Saturday so wil post some followup / photos afterwards ... ... in the meantime, if anyone can tell me what I should expect when I remove the PCM1 unit and look behind that would certainly be appreciated? i.e. How many wires, what color etc ... :?: [/i]

POST 8Original post

If you drop me a PM with your email address and the Model Year of your car, I'll send you a wiring diagram with all the PCM connections. They are about 1.4MB, so too big to add as an attachment here.

POST 9Original post

Ok, so before bad light stopped play I managed to remove the PCM unit out very easily. .... .... but am then I was confronted by more complex wiring than I'm used to and I need to identify: - 12v DC lead - Ground - Ignition or Radio Remote Any help gratefully appreciated! In addition, I'm also now thinking I may remove the Telephone handset as it's a bit too eighties for my liking. I assume this is relatively straightforward, but again would welcome any suggestions for likely issues? (nb: In case you havent guessed, I'm a relative amateur when it comes to car electrics !) Will update you tomorrow assuming I can finish it tomorrow evening.

POST 11Original post

iPod all connected! Well guys, with great thanks to wiring advice from Richard H (   ) I've now got the iPod connected into the PCM and sitting neatly in the centre storage compartment. the sound is great - I'd say near CD quality - with no interference the CD-Changer remains as-is the screen displays track / artist listings the remote control allows me to just leave the iPod in the centre-storage box and forget about it the iPod is being charged ... honestly I dont have any connection with these guys, but if you are thinking about connecting an iPod to a PCM1 equipped car would strongly recommend this as a solution, plus the service was great: http://www.ipodcarkitdirect.co.uk/i...ator/Connects2_iPlug-RDS_TX_MKII_iPod_Adapter FYI: Richard H advised using the following wiring which worked a treat: Ignition Switched (T86s) - Black 26-pin plug, pin 3 - (an orange wire is connected to this pin) Permanent 12v (T30) - Black 8-pin Plug A, pin 4 - (a red & black wire should be connected to this pin) Earth (T31) - Black 8-pin Plug A, pin 8 - (a brown wire is connected to this pin) There is a possibility that there MAY be a switched supply to plug A. If there is an orange wire connected to it on pin 7, then I would suggest connecting to that one instead, as it will be easier (... which I used ...).

POST 12Original post

Update for anyone considering using this with the iPhone 3G - at the mo it does not charge, but i just got this from the Connect2 sales team: "We are bringing in CTIPOD-CONVERTER which you can use with ICONNECT range which will charge the IPHONE, At the moment we do not have this part in stock as yet should do next few weeks " I'll post again as it becomes available.
