Fuse E6 was blown (no doubt by my clumsy attempts to remove the Porsche connector so as to fit the mObridge one using a circular saw and some swarfega) - swapped the white/red for the red/green and reinstalled and then powered car up.

I've used 2 of the 3 pre-existing wires from the CDC harness - the brown one for ground and the white/red one for constant 12V.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hello All, I'm trying to install a mObridge unit in place of the CDC-4 on my PCM2 equipped 996 C4S. All wires/optics connected up as per instructions but no joy (MOST will not wake up properly and is not recognising the component parts). On the assumption that it is the mObridge that is causing the issue (it was all working before I started....), I am trying to make sure that the unit is getting constant power. The unit has no power tell-tale and the only way you can tell if it has power is if it is working, which it isn't. I've used 2 of the 3 pre-existing wires from the CDC harness - the brown one for ground and the white/red one for constant 12V. There is also a green/red wire which I have no idea about, although worringly on other forums I've seen this referred to as the constant 12V wire. But that is not what my multi-meter is telling me. Before I go and swear at it some more, does anyone know what the green/red wire is for, as at least that way I can eliminate one possible mistake I may have made. Any other suggestions from people with a mObridge also gratefully received. Many thanks, David

POST 2Original post

On the wiring diagram it shows: Red/Green - supply from fuse E6 Brown - Earth White/Red - "Wake Up/Diagnosis" (from PCM unit) I think you have the supply to the wrong wire. Maybe check fuse E6.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Richard, Thank you very much indeed, that was exactly the information I was after. Fuse E6 was blown (no doubt by my clumsy attempts to remove the Porsche connector so as to fit the mObridge one using a circular saw and some swarfega) - swapped the white/red for the red/green and reinstalled and then powered car up. All works perfectly! Turns out the white/red is a data wire which sends bursts of signal to the CDC, but which on a simple multimeter looks like a constant 12V... I really can't thank you enough for the accurate information and speedy response. I was cross enough with being stumped, but Friday night's drive from Liverpool Street to Snowdon was going to be a drag with no music or SatNav. Now I'm very much looking forward to it. Thanks again, David
