Suggestion

I'm not sure of the documented procedure to reset the drop facility, but on my wifes mini which had a similar issue I had to put the window all the way down then hold the button up for several seconds after it was fully closed to reset.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

8 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

1 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

I tried the same thing on the Porsche thinking it may have a similar system and it worked lol.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi guys, tonight when i got in my car i noticed the window didnt pop down when i pulled the handle so i had to jiggle it a bit to get in. I thought it might just be due to it being cold this morning when i parked it (around 0 deg or so), but as i was driving home i tried the passenger side which worked ok. I tried the drivers side again and it just makes a kind of whiring noise then when i got on my drive and got out it didnt pop up or down. Have I damaged the mechanism or is it somthing simple?

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

hmm my service is due in aprilso i might just hold on till then. I might have to avoid multistories tho lol.

POST 4Original post

This happened to me when I left the passenger window open for a couple of weeks with the car unused. When putting the window up fully, and shutting the door it would make a wining noise like it was trying to still shut the window. I'm not sure of the documented procedure to reset the drop facility, but on my wifes mini which had a similar issue I had to put the window all the way down then hold the button up for several seconds after it was fully closed to reset. I tried the same thing on the Porsche thinking it may have a similar system and it worked lol.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

So i should try to move the window down then press the up button and hold it?

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Just incase anyone has this happen it was the wire that had snapped. There was no membrane whatsoever though is there one usually?

POST 7Original post

There should always be a membrane. It is a thin grey foam-type plastic. I'm surprised you haven't got damp carpets.

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Oh i see when membrane was mentioned i assumed you guys ment a plastic. The foam is there i just assumed it was a sound dampaning material.

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
