Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Suspected cause
( which i never knew about as i hardly drove it) the idle was abit erratic on tickover aswell, probably an 02 lambda sensor.
Leading evidence: '02 lambda sensor' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is '02 lambda sensor' (1 discussions; 0 report identifying it and 1 suggest it). No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.
Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

The orange pipe is non-standard, worth finding out a little more before visiting. Someone on here must know more about breathing than me, perhaps one of the older members
I spoke to the orginal owner after he part exchanged the car.
Here is the pistonheads add before he pxd the car for a RS4.

Here is the email replys.
anthony, the car was good, only issues with the car was the engine oil seel had slightly started to go. ( which i never knew about as i hardly drove it) the idle was abit erratic on tickover aswell, probably an 02 lambda sensor. that was it really, they are nice cars, im surprised you can,t find one theres plenty about.
i traded it in for an rs4 avant, which is surpisingly alot quicker and easy to drive and better suited for us as we have 2 small children now. i,d probably go for a 997 instead of the 996.
good luck phil.
ps did you try to buy my car from them? it,ll be fine with the 2 jobs done.
2nd
hi again, yeah the cars very good, interior is very good, only very small parking dings on side when people open car doors on it, and bonnet has a few dents, where people have put things in that are to big for it. front bumper is going to be painted as it was a different colour, due to being painted for stone chips before i had it.
ive never owned an evo, but ive had a scooby, escort cosy, nissan sunny gtir, which are all about the same.
the 911 is more of a cruiser, not raw power and 4 wheel drive as an evo. and 911,s are still tricky in the wet, but very good in a straight line. getting the rs4 is like going back to the 4 wheel drive cars, its great.
ive only owned it just over a week now and ive honestly had more people respect it over the 911.
i dont think i would buy another 911 there too smooth for me, possibly a gt3 mite be ok.
i hope this helps you, good luck.
cheers phil.
The orange pipe is a CAI (Cold Air Intake) - like Schnell or FabSpeed (but I so not sure this is either due to colour of tube and blanking cap)
Basically harmonic resonance chamber in airbox has been bypassed (possibly with removal of internal harmonic resonance chamber aswell - makes more space in airbox)
By the look of sticker on airbox exit neck there is also a third party panel filter (like K&N etc - oiled cloth/mesh)
Makes nice noise, possibly breathes better and possibly contaminates MAF if filter if over oiled.
RS4 more respect? come on 99% public would just think its an audi which basic body shape starts at around£350 quid from your local auction market, they will never have the street cred of a 911 even the R8 cant do that!!! Albeit they probably do most things better than a 911, but so does my Focus diesel!!!
Barrie, you'd be suprised at the attention the RS gets. With ours, we get more people eggin us on to go faster etc on the m-ways than the 911 does, and in town the V8 rumbe turns loads of heads. Don't know if it's people trying to see if it really is that good etc or what, but they defo do command repect.
Great car, but totally different to the 911. Me and my old man had a blast on the country lanes of Essex last Sunday. Not much between them on that sort of road, but i know i was having to work/think much harder than he was in the RS!
