Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I have a 2000 Boxter with 74,000 miles on it and can find no info online on when to change them. I know what the dealer will tell me and was just trying to verify the time limit on these things. Please inform me.

You're most likely referring to the Drive Belt rather then the 2 timing chains (1 for each cylinder bank). It's the only thing requiring regular maintenance. This should be changed at least every 60k mi. or 5 yrs. whichever is 1st. Easy DIY procedure, the belt costs about $25-$30.
