Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I also checked the fuse in the driver's foot well and checked both bulbs - all have continuity.

Suggestion
That's a good test but even before you remove the transmission switch, you can unplug it and check for +12v on one of the pins of the connector (car side).
Leading evidence: 'Check bulbs - all have continuity' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'upstream toward the fuse box' (1 discussions; 0 report identifying it and 1 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Check +12v' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

I replaced the switch on the transmission last year however I removed it again to test and get continuity when the switch is compressed.
Replace switch last year so surprised it is already failing

Suspected cause
If you don't even have 12v supply there, your problem is upstream toward the fuse box.
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

My back up lights stopped working recently so would appreciate guidance on how to troubleshoot.
I replaced the switch on the transmission last year however I removed it again to test and get continuity when the switch is compressed. I also checked the fuse in the driver's foot well and checked both bulbs - all have continuity.
Next step??
TIA
Can we assume all other lights work? Stop lamps, running lights, turn signals? The common point for BOTH backups lamps to fail is the switch on the transmission. Both bulbs changed?
Check fuse B5 and make sure the backup light switch gets 12v.
Then remove the bulbs and check for 12v presence at the socket when you engage reverse gear.
I noticed a common issue for the reverse light is that the metal spring inside the bulb socket snaps and the contact no longer reaches the bottom of the bulb. I have only been able to find an entire wire harness and not just a socket to replace it with. I fixed mine by getting a metal chip from my shop floor to make the contact. lol
Thanks for the replies. Yes, all other tail lights work.
I did check the fuse and it appears OK but will swap for a new one to test.
I will start checking for current in the system. I was also going to remove the transmission switch and depress it manually to see if that illuminates the back up lights.

could just be a bad switch, I have replaced mine twice and both seem to work fine after out of the car and cleaned and texted. I just put a new one always
I removed the switch last weekend, plugged the connector back in, and manually operated the switch. It appears there is an issue with the switch as the lights would only come on when the switch was completely depressed. Even then, the lights would not illuminate every time so just ordered a new switch.
I replaced the switch last year so surprised it is already failing.
Thanks for all the advice!
