Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Would like to know if anyone has the same experience as I do. Starting from cold engine turns and starts perfectly, Starting when warm engine turns but slowly almost get the feeling sometimes that the battery is flat it turns that slow, but always starts, is this normal for the 996? Thanks Ken

POST 2Original post

Erm must admit mine is the same morning and when warm. have had a new battery recently though :dont know:

POST 3Original post

The car's a sluggish starter but it is a sign of a failing battery.

POST 4Original post

If the battery is sound, it may be worth checking all Battery Related connections. Especially on the "earth side". This includes the earth strap between the engine/trans and the body. Check too the power cable to the starter solenoid for tightness. There can be some differential on engine compressions between cold and hot. When cold most of the oil will have drained away from the piston ring area, which on initial cranking will reduce the start up compression ratio. However when the engine is hot more of this lubrication will be in place, and cause the cranking compression ratios to be higher. However hopefully something here to help. Regards Big Bob :bye:
