Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Anyone on here know if it possible to replace the liners and pistons in a normally asperated m96 for a set taken out of a turbo model. Both are 2002 996 with 3.6cc.

POST 2Original post

An interesting question that I have never looked into (because we make the replacement liners that are technically much the same aerospace alloy Nikasil plated replacement cylinders) but the dimensions are made to suit the machining out of the old liners. I doubt the turbo ones would be big enough to create a top hat (to make the result closed deck like it is in the turbo) and I think the bore will be different and no hole for assembly of the piston circlips. however if you want to either send me one of the old turbo liners (or the dimensions) I will be happy to reply with my findings. POST 3Original post

I can bring a GT3 liner up when I pop in to see you Baz. Martin.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Sounds like I'm not the only one that has thought about this option. 🤔

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post
