Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

7 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi all, just hoping to get some guidance on the likely cost of upgrading the injectors in my 996 Turbo - just had a quote that came in at £500 just for labour. Seems a bit toppy to me as from what I've read it doesn't seem that big a job? Assuming £100 p/h labour rates, that's 5 hours or 45 minutes per injector - does that sound right? Thanks! :thumb:

POST 2Original post

It took me at least that long to replace the injectors on my NA 996.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks. For reference, how would you rate your spanner skills, from complete newbie to professional? :thumb:

POST 4Original post

It is engine out and 11 hours The only way you can guarantee you have no leak and they are seated correctly. Have tried with engine in but just not worth the hassle but you can do an engine boost leak check whilst it is on the floor and anything else of Course Ken

POST 6Original post

I did mine with the engine in place. The EV14s are a slightly shorter injectors than the original so you do, to be safe, need to modify the fuel rails. All in all not to bad a job, did take me two days though but it would definitely be quicker doing it a second time. It's a bit like decorating your hall stairs and landing through your letter box! Darren.

POST 7Original post

I would say advanced armature. But this isn't a technically demanding job, at least on NA cars. It requires small hands and a willingness to get dirty. Best suited to a 10 year old. The trick is finding a porsche qualified one. Frankly, once you figure out how to get the fuel rails and injectors out of the bock, the rest is easy.
