Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

It had a few niggles to sort, I replaced the bonnet and wing for £170 due to a small dent and paint damage.

The difference is that it's got fsh, a decent MOT history and has been used (albeit sparingly) consistently over the past 6 years.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi all, I've been away for a while and hadn't really planned on returning to 996 ownership.... but...
A car I've known for around 10 years has been offered to me for probably not a lot... we need to finalise the details.
What would you value a straight 996.1 manual convertible with 100k on the clock? Has not turned a wheel in 3 years and only about 1000 miles in the 3 before that.
Gonna need some tlc (brakes/ suspension/ tyres/ major service etc, etc), I'm a mechanic so not going in blind runs fine and no damage whatsoever also no rust either😳- just dirty... been left outside without any attention for 3 years.
Still not sure I want another but if the price is right it could be a fun little project.
So ... I know there are no pics- I didn't take any when I looked at it earlier... but what's it worth (ballpark)?
It would be a steal at £8K imo.
Going by what others have sold for, unless it needs thousands spending on it, a clean and recommission should see it fetch well over £10K unless it's hiding serious faults.
My Cat C 98 996.1 Cabrio was £7K and had plenty of recent history including clutch, water pump, brand new dampers, IMS bearing, tyres, Miltek silencers etc.
It had a few niggles to sort, I replaced the bonnet and wing for £170 due to a small dent and paint damage. It will also need a gearbox rebuild in the future, but I thought it was great value at £7K.
Cabrios don't fetch as much, but with a hard top, it works for me. The early cable throttle cars, especially with ambers seem to be the ones starting to become modern classics first.
Yes it would be a bargain at 8k if it only needed a couple of grand to get it spot in. I would always assume though it might be hiding a few probs. There are bargains out there if you sit a wait and keep an eye on the market. It's only my opinion though.
Have you looked around to see what Cab's are for sale? I had a quick look and similar age / mileage are £12-13k private. I think recommission costs are a bit of an unknown - you only need a few snapped things like caliper bolts / bleed nipples and it soon starts getting expensive. Tyres are probably flat spotted and > 5 years old so there's another £750.

There's a similar car on AT at the moment for £10.5k.
The difference is that it's got fsh, a decent MOT history and has been used (albeit sparingly) consistently over the past 6 years.
I'd say £8k for the one you're considering would be a better deal for the seller than for you.
Thanks for the feedback.
I'm planning to look at it again which is difficult due to current restrictions. But I need to see it out in the open and not blocked in by other cars (as it was last time).
I think it should be between 7-8k. I know others are advertised for more, but do they sell & if so at what price. Plus we all know these can be money pits- so i could easily sink 3k into it without much effort.
As mentioned I'm not desperate for it (already have too many vehicles), but it's only round the corner & from a distant relative... so watch this space.
