I assumed it was the drains in the trunk blocked so had a thorough look and blew threw with compressed air and poured water down which defined out underneath the car.
Leading evidence: 'drains in the trunk blocked' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'drains in the trunk blocked' (1 discussions; 0 report identifying it and 1 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Fill with water' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Suggestion
Either will cause water to enter the car and depending on the slope its parked at it causes the o/s or the n/s to fill with water .

Suggestion
Mine was more apparent when using the blower motor, it stank of sweet smelling coolant and turned the inside of the windscreen steamy and greasy.

you have to lift it up , fold over the center console and then use the dehumidifier ...
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Thought the air through drain pipes has solved it but today when I went out and turned the key to position 2 the fans started up and a trickle of water came down from underneath the dash into the footwell.
Hi all. Went out to move the car and the passenger footwell was full of water. I assumed it was the drains in the trunk blocked so had a thorough look and blew threw with compressed air and poured water down which defined out underneath the car.
I have checked an Aircon pipe in the footwell and it's all attached still so can't be that. Thought the air through drain pipes has solved it but today when I went out and turned the key to position 2 the fans started up and a trickle of water came down from underneath the dash into the footwell.
Is there any ideas what else it could be and where to look next? I'm thinking some a/c component maybe and it isn't draining but it's so tight in there to look and I can't strip the car out as it lives outside so need to lock it. The hardtop is on and there is no drips on the doors so seals seem fine. Thanks for any help in advance
Thanks thought that may be the case but the bottom of the door card is bone dry and I could see the water coming down from under the dash and that corresponds with where I can feel the carpet is wet.
Behind the battery is a foam panel .. this is used to enable removal of the heater matrix without removing the dashboard ..
Mice love to chew through it .. take the battery top panel off and with a torch have a look .. if there is a hole then you have a mice infestation that also needs fixing .
Image is a stripped out view .. lift the battery panel and you can see this foam cover .
Above the battery there is a plastic panel .. a clip each side you twist 90 degrees to remove it .. you can now see the battery .
With a torch look at the foam panel directly behind the battery .. you are looking for lifting at the edges or a hole in it .
Either will cause water to enter the car and depending on the slope its parked at it causes the o/s or the n/s to fill with water .
If not this then i'll have another think .. might need some pictures though .
9pm .. done for the night .. sorry .
Exactly the job I'm doing now. Nice pool of coolant was sitting under the leaking matrix which is under that foam panel arrowed previously. Mine was more apparent when using the blower motor, it stank of sweet smelling coolant and turned the inside of the windscreen steamy and greasy.
Thanks both. I've had a look today and can't see any rodent damage where you mentioned Demort. I've put a pic below as to the area where the drips / water seems to come down and hit circled in orange. The white thing is a dehumidifier.
@ Kbald ..
Ok thats a new one on me to drip in that place .. the pollen filter housing is above it .. make sure the pollen filter isn't wet .. there should be a foam cover over it ... the base is also sealed .. its possible that's the entry point .. its a strip out and investigate or pour water in specific places around it to try and find the point of entry .
next item is the power distribution board .. there is a hole through the bulkhead where the battery positive lead connects to it .. perhaps this is not sealing .. this is the distributor board that sends the power to the fuse board .. it has several large fuses in it .
I think .. i would have a spray bottle of water .. spray it around where the battery lead goes into the car and look for any drips inside ..
X2 13mm nuts hold it in place .. make sure they are not loose .
Pollen filter housing is a visual look .
@ abe996
Technically yes but it would be a huge leak to do this.
The usual for a matrix leak is a sweet smell in the car , front screen misting up and a loss of coolant .
EDIT ..
ref a dehumidifier placed like this ....
The underside of the carpet has upto 2 inches of foam .. a giant sponge .. a humidifier can only dry what air can be circulated over ..
From experience you could leave that in the car 24/7 for 2 weeks and it wont dry the carpet .. you have to lift it up , fold over the center console and then use the dehumidifier ... sorry .
Thanks will have a good look around that area tomorrow. The pollen filter didn't look wet but didn't spend too much time looking.
One other thing is the bung for the drain hole nearest the battery got pushed into the hole so could maybe be blocking somewhere but water did come out underneath when I poured some in. How would I get in there to retrieve it or is it a goner? Thanks again
First off i edited my post .. please read ...
Battery drain bungs pushed through will not cause a water leak .. as long as you don't have a mice issue then its best if these are removed .. IMHO .. a big hole is far better at draining away water than theses grommets ..
Plus if mice want to get into the car they just chew these to bits and get in regardless .. i have one in at work and the mice have done just this .. entire base of the grommet is missing .
For any water ingress .. i literally pour or spray water in different areas and look for a drip or two inside .. thats as technical as it gets im afraid .
Thanks Demort I will get the seat out and turn the carpet over.
Re the water I've been out to it today and the pollen filter was wet with some water sat in there too. I'm not sure if this was because of reminded the plastic to cover when I was searching for the leak or is the issue. The filter had the foam over half of it but looks like the re should be something on top as there is a clip on the side. I've attached a photo of it to see if it's right. Thanks
