Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I had some work done (maintenance) to it recently; nothing emission related, but I think they disconnected the battery at some point.
Leading evidence: 'Disconnect battery at some point' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check because the monitors are'nt ready' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Tighten cap as much as possible, reset codes with the Durametric (anyone else ever find that tool to be fussy sometimes about connecting?) Anyhow once the Durametric gods gave me access I cleared the codes, fired her up.

PS To Harvey, my pal is in the car business, running from 60 you lift off the accelerator, preferably somewhere that you can decelerate to near stop without the brakes, just let the engine do it.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

It showed no faults, I cleared it twice anyhow and it worked, not sure why it didn't show the code in the Durametric because it 100% did on the dash.
I can't get the car emissions certified till the "visit engine shop" is remedied. I think a year ago it was a loose cap, now tightening it is not solving the problem. The screen at the shop indicated "large evap leak", the technician said that's almost always the cap. I just ordered a new one, you can get just the gasket, but a new one is $15 so I elected to replace it. I will report back to this thread, just started it in case anyone else has the same issue. It won't be surprising to me if at 13 the fine German / TUV approved rubber and or plastic is shot. I love German polymers, "the best or nothing" ! Oh wait that's not
Porsche

Evap update: A new cap arrives Monday. Instead of suffering angst till then I decided to run an experiment. Tighten cap as much as possible, reset codes with the Durametric (anyone else ever find that tool to be fussy sometimes about connecting?) Anyhow once the Durametric gods gave me access I cleared the codes, fired her up. All good. Now if one of you members has a diagram of how the cap strap disconnects from the cap I'd sure appreciate that. I might be able to figure it out by looking at the new part but a diagram would be sweet. Also interesting? It showed no faults, I cleared it twice anyhow and it worked, not sure why it didn't show the code in the Durametric because it 100% did on the dash. "Visit engine shop" not today pal! Whooped em' again Mr. Josey Wales. Be advised if you need a test of said system in your state it will be necessary to drive the car 30 miles one day, 30 the
next
before you go for a read. PS the drive miles to re populate the read data for emissions was a guess from a Toyota master tech, if the time or mileage on a
Porsche
is longer or shorter that would be great to know, many thanks P9
In case anyone else ever needs it. There's a small plastic rivet. It's hard for my old eyes to see it properly but this is a huge help.

Let my problem help all you avoid one: 175 miles driven not enough to pass emissions test yet. I will report back on just how long it takes a
Porsche
to accumulate enough data to run the test. Big difference new cap to 13 year old cap. Do yourselves a favor if they have emissions where you live it's 15 at FCP, get a new one before you need one. Playing beat the clock with unknown mileage needs under a time crunch is no fun.
You know what? I wish it was that simple, I just watched a video of how to do it in 30 minutes and most of the suggestions other than idle to temp will get you killed on any road in any city. It SHOULD not be this hard. The Ford of the same year did it in 80 miles, no drama but not the fu fu car, nooooo that has to be persnickety.
Doing god's work here for the
next
guy. This is about three times what it takes any other manufacturer.

Received an email from Panorama tech specialist, along with the mileage you need 13 start stops, this aspect of owning a
Porsche
is unnecessarily difficult under a Evap system evaluation time crunch. PS It was Pedro, patron saint of enthusiasts of
Porsche
cars and a fine man.
What a nightmare process this is. Soooo happy to live in Florida where no one cares what kind of emissions the car is outputting. The only thing missing, when getting all the monitors to align with the planets, is rubbing your belly while simultaneously tapping the top of your head and chanting...."oh whatta loon I am".
A local dealership Service Writer and also an experienced tech, when asked, both said they have no idea of the drive protocol required to reset everything required to get an OBD emissions check. I found that strange. That said, after reading a collection of service training documents in my possession, it is convoluted. Miles are certainly important. "Key starts" come into play. Initial conditions such as air temp, fuel tank level, etc also apply. It's a Hot Mess!
Anyone changing your gas cap and lanyard, one OEM plastic pop rivet is $10. Now I bought a new one because keeping the
Spyder
pristine and original is important to me. However, after doing it I can relate this to you all: Prepare a small piece of wood skewer from your grill stuff, say 1" with a flat on each end. You can get behind said pop rivet and drive the pin up and out with your fingers. This will allow the deployment prongs to retract. Then you can remove and use the same rivet. The wood will prevent you from any scratching if you were to slip off. Frankly if I hadn't bought one I would have done this but it's one of those jobs you learn from the first time, that's why I'm passing it along. There's no way even a freak car show guy would be able to see that because the back is blind.
PS To Harvey, my pal is in the car business, running from 60 you lift off the accelerator, preferably somewhere that you can decelerate to near stop without the brakes, just let the engine do it. This is a critical step for getting the Evap readings you are seeking. I did it a couple times, worked as he said it would.
