Checked fuse for tail lights and cruise ok. Any ideas what the problem could be? My car is 1999 c2, with 65,000 mls tiptronic. Thanks in antisipation.

Is the green cruise light coming on in the dash when you switch it on the stalk? That would show if the switch is working and it is getting power. Another possible problem is the brake light switch. Even if the brake lights are working, it doesn't mean the switch is OK. There are two contacts inside the switch, and only one is used for the lights.
