Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.

0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.

Suggestion

For those of us with a hard top, when we install the hard top, we need to "disconnect" the existing connection, move it to the "dummy" one then re-connect with the hard top connection so that the defroster works with the hard top - see manual

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1Original post

I just noticed this gizmo, after years of owning the car. It's a small black plastic box wedged into the space between the roll bar and the firewall, behind the seat belt. It appears to have a few electrical wires connected to it. There's one on the left (driver's) side of the car, but not the right side, although there's a mounting point on both sides. Please ridicule me. Sensitive content, not recommended for those under 18 Show Content

POST 2Original post

It is a battery connection that enables your car to be a 100% EV but you need to store batteries in the trunk Joking aside, (no need to worry / care if you do not have a hard top) One (behind the "empty / circled one") is a connection to the rear defroster, and the circled one is "empty / dummy." For those of us with a hard top, when we install the hard top, we need to "disconnect" the existing connection, move it to the "dummy" one then re-connect with the hard top connection so that the defroster works with the hard top - see manual

POST 3Original post

A-ha! I never would have guessed. Thanks. It makes sense; you’d have to manually plug in the defroster somewhere when installing a hard top. It’s just not something I’ve ever done.

"It is a battery connection that enables your car to be a 100% EV but you need to store batteries in the trunk " Haha!
