I am replacing the headliner due to sagging and going from the stock fabric look to suede. Does anyone have experience or tips and tricks for covering the a-pillars with the same material? The headliner replacement has been covered exhaustively, but I did not see anything specific on covering a-pillars. The tolerances look tight but wanted someone w experience to comment.
I know the
981
and
718
's offered factory covered A-pillars for $200-$300. Maybe buy one of those, check out how they did it, and then sell them online afterwards or return them.

I spoke to an upholsterer about this exact question. They were not interested in 'retrofitting' anything on top of the older plastic but said that roughing up the surface could be sufficient... I tried it on a small area with fabric and it looked terrible
Boxster
or
Cayman
?
There was a very brief thread on Facebook where a chap pulled and covered his on a
boxster
, IIRC with vinyl film. They looked great. The vinyl can stretch enough to go on (especially if heated just a bit) without wrinkles, I've added it to my list of things to do.. mine have a few spots of missing paint (not obvious with the dark dark blue interior) and I'd like to bring them up a bit brighter in blue. Plus I have several wires to tuck behind them.
He said on his
boxster
he unscrewed the sunvisor mount, swiveled it up out of the way, and was able to pull the A-pillar cover off. I asked what way to pull, but he was rather vague in his response. I'm guessing pulling it out and up might work, I saw there is a tab in the bottom of it that appears to go down into the dash (which is why I've never been able to push any wires into that gap..)
If you do this project - please DO post photos here. Take lots of them.. we're a very visual group. Dunno if there are any YouTube videos, I haven't looked.
