I definitely couldn't have replaced the anti roll bars let alone the other items from an OPC for the £140 I paid to powder coat..

I've replaced most of the braces etc on mine and with some moaning and groaning at the opc for discount you'd be surprised how cheap that is.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I keep looking at all the bits under car that are exposed and thinking I could remove and get powder coated for corrosion resistance and to look cool. Anyone done anything like this and if so what bits did you cover. Thought it could be an ideal time over the winter to do.
Hi
I've just had these parts done earlier this week.. shot blasted and zinc coated then a black gloss powder coated finish ..front and rear anti roll bars.. bracket around the gear box and 4 struts/ braces plus 2 small brackets.. 9 pieces altogether.. cost was £140.
I didn't take a pic when I collected it.. but it will tidy up the underside of the car for sure.
Trouble with powder coating is that its very hard wearing but on things underside it chips and then corrosion gets under it. I've replaced most of the braces etc on mine and with some moaning and groaning at the opc for discount you'd be surprised how cheap that is. What I've done with them is to coat them with bilt hamber clear wax which you can then keep on top of. Just another option for you.
Interesting. Hadn't thought of replacing, as assumed a lot of money with Porsche tax. Do you have a list of parts and what you paid. @jtbkk who did you use for the powder coating ?
I just used a company local to me .. 'Worcester Powder Coating" They do work for JCB so must be reasonable at the job..
I definitely couldn't have replaced the anti roll bars let alone the other items from an OPC for the £140 I paid to powder coat.. if you get anything done just make sure they zinc coat the items first after shot blasting as some companies won't ask/offer this..
Hope this helps
Local opc. To give you an example I just picked up two front suspension plates , the ones that are on the front and angled. These are twenty something Linda plus vat at d911 but the opc did me them both for £40 including. The rear diagonal struts were only twenty something each also. If you're a pcgb member you'll get discount but if you ask you'll get some anyway!! I normally get new bolts but these are expensive!!
I do feel for you having to deal with those harsh conditions there. I was wondering if some of the marine sealants and paints would be useful on underbody parts?
Powder coating always looks nice when it is done but it will chip, allow water to penetrate and eventually go brittle.
Mind you it takes a while but that depends on where the component is situated.
I have always sprayed the components with smoothrite. It is very chip resistant and can be touched up if chips do occur.
My record is 19.5 years on the front wishbones of a Triumph TR5 and they still looked as good as the day I painted them.
However everyone will have their own opinion about what is the best way to do things and this is mine.
Having said that engine bay parts do well when powder coated.
