The healining is loose around the edges and in some places to allow the roof to fold up so double check there's nothing wrong with it.

Might be worth getting in touch and sending it up to be copied and replaced/repaired.

If headlining is knackered then it can be removed and replaced but it sounds to me like there's nothing wrong with it.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Re:- Cabriolet Hood Repair
Hello All
I've just purchase a 2002 Carrera 4 gen 2 cabriolet.. the car seems to have spent most of its life with the hard top on.. thus the hood is in good overall condition if a touch stiff going up and down.. However the headlining needs attention as some of the stitching has come apart and some elastic and velcro sections have also come adrift in places..
Can anyone recommend a hood specialist who could repair the lining and service the hood.. I'm in the West Midlands near Birmingham but don't mind travelling to get the best job done
Thanks
Johnny
There are no velcro bits on the headlining as far as I'm aware and its not stitched in to anything. The healining is loose around the edges and in some places to allow the roof to fold up so double check there's nothing wrong with it. A spray of spray grease around all the pivot points on each side should sort the creaks out.
If headlining is knackered then it can be removed and replaced but it sounds to me like there's nothing wrong with it.
My soft top interior headlining from my 98 C2 Cabrio is torn around the rear hinge and the zip part has come undone or has failed around the rear plastic screen.
I looked at a replacement and can only find a genuine headliner for over £750, presumably plus VAT, which seems a phenomenal amount for a 1KG bit of cloth headliner.
The part number is 99656108500A20, has anyone found an alternative?
If not, I'm just going to look at tidying it up next summer, when the hard top comes off again. The outer skin is in pretty good condition with no rips or tears, just a couple of small wear marks, but ultimately, if seated correctly, does not leak.
For this type of repair, where a whole new hood is not required/overkill, I'd try an automotive trimmer - someone like:
Dave the trimmer (Bedfordshire)
https://www.davethetrimmer.com/
or
Southbound (Hampshire)
https://www.southboundtrimmers.com/
Both have lots of Porsche experience - and some great images of their work :thumb:
Mine is torn in that corner too. There seems 2 layers of the lining in that area, the one that sits in front of the hinge has torn.
As replacements are expensive, I'm going to send mine off to a car trimmer to repair or use as a template to make a new one with.
