Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

As above. I'm currently looking at 996 Turbo's around the 100,000 mile mark. Is there anything I should know about, or be worried about on a Turbo of this mileage? Cheers Paul

POST 3Original post

A while ago somebody asked a similar question and the response was : In addition to checks common to any car, ie, vin numbers, hpi, history/invoices, accident damage, panel gaps, discs/pads tyres, fluid leaks etc etc usual suspects include:- corroded water rads - about 200 quid each corroded/leaky air-con condensors - 165 quid each + re-gas MAF sensor - 160 ish, a check with PIWIS tester usually highlights any issues Sticking wastegates/actuator rods Loose heat shields, exhaust and turbos dodgy N75 boost control valve, again should show up when codes are read Clutch operation/accumulator, simple test for accumulator probs by pumping pedal Also check for spurious boost pressure readings on dash guage when giving it some jive Check all electrical systems work, in particular have a good play with PCM if fitted. They are great cars hope you find a good one.
