They charged me £50 for the clutch fluid change recently and that was from an OPC and for a 997.

I'm in Aberdeen myself and would be happy to go out for a run with you (don't worry - with you driving!) if you're interested in my opinion.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi
I just bought a 2003 911 Turbo from Porsche dealer in Aberdeen, Quite a few things wrong it from get go, windscreen washers/headlight washer/radiators/pcm all had to get fixed.
But the problem now is that when changing gear, 1st, 2nd and 3rd mostly feel a bit clunky - not going in very smoothly and on the odd occasion when trying to go into 3rd it just doesn't want to go in. Also done it trying to go into 1st last night from a standing start at lights (and not going fast) was trying to go into first and it popped out then just wouldn't engage.
Asked some mates who drove it what they thought but as it doesn't do it all the time, they thought it was fine.
The Porsche dealer also said he thought it was fine – but I don't really trust them as they sold me a car with a full big service just done and still all the above wrong with it which you'd have thought they'd have noticed while doing the service.
So just wondering if anyone has had anything similar and if it's a clutch / gearbox problem?
Thank you
Michael
Is this when the engine is cold? If it is the gear change is a little notchy at first until it warms up, but generally this is in the first 2 gears.
It sounds like a clutch selection issue, perhaps a fluid change in the first instance and a clutch adjustment might be in order.
Do you have an extended warranty on it?

Hi
Thank you for the reply.
No, it's not only when cold unfortunatly.
So for a fluid change and a clutch adjustment, would I have to go back to my Porsche dealer or can at least do the fluid change myself?
Big job?
Cheers
Michael
I'd ask the dealer to do it in the first instance and if you get no joy, let them do it for you and charge you.

Hi Michael,
Is this your first 996? I only ask because the gearbox on the 996 can be notchy at times, and not just when cold.
First gear in most cars (Porsches, BMWs et al) can be sticky. I fumbled first gear in my Carrera 4S this morning. Mind you, maybe it's just me that's notchy!
I'm in Aberdeen myself and would be happy to go out for a run with you (don't worry - with you driving!) if you're interested in my opinion. If so, drop me a private message.
If there is a genuine issue I'd be surprised if Porsche Aberdeen wouldn't do their best to help (I'm assuming the car's under warranty) - I've found them to be very helpful over the last few years.
Regards,
Mike
