Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I am considering buying a conditioner to use via the cigarette lighter, but am not sure if my car wiring is currently suited to this (Carrera 2000MY). If it is not currently suitable to support charging via the cigarette lighter, can anyone recommend what would need to be done to overcome this ? Advice welcome as usual.

POST 2Original post

Hi Stuart. I don't think that your cigar lighter remains 'live' when your car isn't active (ie. locked). I think that they started to make them continuously 'live' around the MY2003 mark. I have a MY 2003 and I must admit it's very handy for the charger. However! Have look here!!: http://www.porscheclubgbforum.com/tm.asp?m=356323 Hope this helps! Adrian.

POST 3Original post

if your cigarette lighter is permanently live i.e. it works without the ignition switched on then the it should be ok. If it isn't then its a fairly straight forward job to get it wired so that it is.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for the replies. I thought I could remember reading it was not live on pre 2002 cars, but was not sure. Guess I could just get off my backside and try it for myself !

No worries, Stuart. Big up to the Erdington massive![ ]
