Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi all, I finally got up the courage to install my iPorsche kit this afternoon, but when I got to the bit in the intructions ( http://www.austinpe.com/install.html ) that says: "Now, on the driver's side of the console you should find a telephone plug. It may be tucked under the carpet, it will look like this". I can't find that connector. I can find a similar looking taped-off cable, but that has black, red, blue, white cables, not brown, yellow whatever. If I were a gambling man, I might take a risk on black being negative and red positive, but I don't want to fry my car or iPod! Does anyone know what that cable is, and wether it has ground and +12v on it? Also, I've just seen on the renntech site that someone said it's not compatible with the CDR-210, and I've got a CDR-21, which sounds supisiously similar... I hope I've not go through all this dismantling to find out that it won't work anyway. I think I'm going to try to plug just enough of it back together to try the audio connection, to see if any sound comes out, without the power lines. Cheers, Steve

POST 2Original post

I'm not familiar with that particular kit, but the plug they are referring to is the telephone preparation plug behind the centre console. All US 986 and 996s are fitted with this plug, but UK ones aren't. Aftermarket kits in the US often use it for a switched and permanent feed. You could get these from the power plug to the radio. The CDR-210 is the US version of the CDR-21, so I suspect you could be right.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Yeah, after some googling it seems that you can't use non CD changers plugged into the Aux input socket of the CDR-21. D'oh. Oh well. Anyone want to buy a slightly used iPorsche kit?
