Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

7 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Can anyone help? When I turn the steering wheel to go round corners the horn sounds! It doesn't happen all the time, but happens pretty regularly. Am driving a 996 (1999) Tiptronic. Any ideas/thoughts would be appreciated.

POST 2Original post

? trim ring on back of hub adapter warped/ broken.

POST 3Original post

Indeed, dodgy horn contact I'm sure Ive just put an RS wheel on my 964 and had the same problem until I took the ring off and repositioned it

POST 4Original post

Had a similar problem and had to file one of the contacts down [very slightly] on the ring behind the airbag. The rubber mounts can perish having the same effect but mine appeared to have just moved with age. Easy fix , took half hour. TB

POST 5Original post

Horn contact for sure. **Ensure you disconnect battery if you are doing this yourself** Airbag wires are Yellow in colour, try to avoid disconnecting.

POST 6Original post

Got my Indy to do mine as I was wary of setting off the airbag. They didn't disconnect the battery and the airbag was just unplugged, Could have done it myself if I had known. TB
