Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I got some space grey Dynamix dye, and did my steering wheel last night (after checking the colour on a hidden part of one of the side-bits from the console).

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi all, I've been trying to find the leather colour of my car so that I can apply some leather dye to the steering wheel and seats to bring it back to good condition. I've been through all the codes on my sticker: and worked out what they all mean apart from the "BF", so I guess that's the colour code. I've looked on a load of colour code websites, and none of them list BF. Visually it looks like a neutral mid-to-dark grey, don't really know how to describe it, but I could try to take a photo in daylight if that's helpful. Thanks in advance, Steve

POST 2Original post

Pic would be helpful. BF is definitely the right code though. Or if you can find a piece of extra leather (say on the underside of the front seats), carefully cut it off and send it to Gliptone - they will match the dye for you.

POST 3Original post

I'm fairly sure it is Space Grey. And try Dynamix Dyes. They get very good feedback. Here are the other leather colours I have worked out - the first digit of the interior code: 3 – Natural Grey 4 – Natural Brown or Cashmere Beige 6 – Classic Grey 8 – Black A – Black C – Graphite Grey S – Savannah G – Metropole Blue E – Metropole Blue B – Space Grey J – Nephrite Green M – Boxster Red D – Natural Dark Grey T – Natural Brown P – Cinnamon Brown

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Great, thanks for the input. Googling some photos, space grey looks about right, and thanks to Richard H for the codes, I've not seen a single letter list anywhere else. It seems to match the Porsche parts list documet (E_996_KATALOG.pdf), now I know that only the first letter matters. Many thanks, Steve

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I got some space grey Dynamix dye, and did my steering wheel last night (after checking the colour on a hidden part of one of the side-bits from the console). I have to say I'm very impressed! It's made a world of difference to my rather tired looking steering wheel. The top half of the wheel was really worn, and showing brown leather though in quite a few places, but now it looks great. It needs another coat in places that I missed, or put too little on, but it looks so much better. I'm going to try the drivers seat bolster next, which is also looking quite tired.

POST 6Original post

i find it best to apply with a jay cloth rather than a sponge

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

OK, thanks. It did seem to be soaking into the sponge more than being applied to the leather. I'll give that a go. - Steve
