Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

The OPC first replaced the alarm and c-locking module(s), however after more occurances it turned out to be an issue with the lock on the drivers door (some sort of microswitch or sensor I think).

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 1 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Odd thing with the key yesterday. Locked the car, came back and both windows were open. Thought it must have been me. Tried later and it locked then the red light on key started flashing and constantly and car unlocked itself and the windows went down all by themselves. This has happened several times. Is it the key battery? I have read threads where people have had problems when the battery is changed. What is the best battery to get? Thx

POST 2Original post

I'm sure there's a few threads around on this, however on my previous (996 C4) I had this issue, and even experienced it when driving along (really not fun on the M-way in the night when the doors unlock, both windows come down and the interior lights come on!). The OPC first replaced the alarm and c-locking module(s), however after more occurances it turned out to be an issue with the lock on the drivers door (some sort of microswitch or sensor I think). Matt

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thx - this seemed to be related to the key. The red light was flashing on and off rapidly.

POST 4Original post

As the fob flashes when you press it and as the windows will open automatically when you hold the fob button for more than around 5 seconds it sounds like your fob button is sticking (so your car is opening windows & sunroof (if applicable)??

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

OK - did not know the windows could be opened that way. Makes sense what you say - not sure what the solution is.
