Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

While changing the bump stops in my 2008 Cayman S , I noticed a tube sticking out from underneath the drivers side wheel well. I have attached a photo of the tube. Could anyone advise me of what it is, or if I need to take a look at where it is coming from? It looks like to get to it I would have to remove the side fender which would be a whole new job for getting that out to see where the tube is coming from.

POST 2Original post

if you had said that was the front passenger side, I would have guessed battery vent tube or drain tube from gas cap but since it’s not, I have no clue.

POST 3Original post

I believe his is RHD, so there's that added confusion. And a better description of the location would of been helpful when asking assistance. I think motofanatic is on the right track. But I can't tell if that picture is a front or back jack point. If rear the tube could be a water drain hose for the roof channels.

POST 4Original post

Sorry for the confusion regarding where the tube is coming from. My car is right hand drive and the tube is located on the driver side (Right side) right in between the front wheel well and front jack point. Hope this helps in clarifying where it is.

POST 5Original post

I think it is the drain tube. I had mine (the US passenger side which is "your driver side") sticking out / protruding further / longer than you. I simply "reinserted" back in. I suspect the tube may be connected to #4 or 5? Let us know what you find.

POST 6Original post

That does look like the most likely thing it would be. The 'cracking' around where the tube looks like a uniform cutout where something is meant to stick out. I had a look at another Cayman and found the same tube sticking out, so I'm pretty confident that it is where it's meant to be. I don't plan on opening it up to see where it's coming from if it is meant to be there. It would be a pretty big job requiring taking off a big body panel to get at it. There are also no tutorials I can find on YouTube for taking off that panel and I would not be too confident in getting it off alone.
