got wet- car wash & overflowing drains. Car runs fine but:
1. Rear brake, backup, and parking lights stay on, even with car off
2. Fuse for trunk lid blows, pops the trunk open as it blows.
3. Frunk lid switch on door sill doesn't work, but fob opens it.
4. Top tried to open while latched, breaking both plastic ball joint cups. Switch now does nothing.
5. Messages on dash: System fault visit workshop and Failure spoiler control
6. Many errors codes, mostly communication error CAN
Dried the carpet, no help. Pulled the rear control module out from beneath driver's seat and found what looked like soapy residue on the circuit board. Cleaned with alcohol, distilled water, and
DeoxIT
D5, board looks like new, no help.
So I'm considering sending the board off to a place that fixes them, although I'm concerned about that fuse blowing being a different problem.
What do you folks think my
next
steps should be.?
My indy said about $1k for new board reprogrammed and installed. Not sure what board fix/replace places charge yet. Or if there are other options/thing I should check.
$1k doesn't seem bad for a new board... I think refurbs are comparable or even more expensive...
You're not going to DIY on a surface mounted board.. it's toast. If the place will warranty their fix for it - then go for that, if not - I'd be checking the new prices. I believe it will need
PIWIS
programming (unless rebuilt) to mate it to your car.
BTW -
welcome to Planet-9, the Friendly Porsche Forums that encourages drain cleaning - regularly..
I believe I even made a sticky about it.
Seems like you have liquid/ moisture across some switch contacts or other path to ground tripping that fuse. I'm not sure what DIY tool might be available to allow one to install a replacement board. I have recently seen a yard around my area that seems to be collecting 987's for parts. So I was wondering if you could find a used board then buy a tool like
PIWIS
or other. In the meantime I would be pulling as much apart as possible to ensure the harness is dry along with any switches. Good luck!
