Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1Original post

Please can somebody help me. Today I had my 2007 Cayman S in with Porsche Centre Belfast for the 1st service. She will be 2 years old in January. I provided the Centre with 2 containers of Mobil 1 each holding 5 litres. When I was presented with my serviced car I noticed that the Oil indicator showed completely full. I checked the oil returned to me and saw that it was 1.5 litres meaning that 8.5 litres were possibly used. Upon enquiry I was advised that the servicing mechanic had been working on Porsches for 15 years and that he stated that the correct amount required ,including filter, was between 8 and 8.5 litres. The manual states 7.75 litres. What do I do, will this damage my engine in spite of Porsche Centre Belfast assuring me that it will not? Please help David

POST 2Original post

I would drive 'gently' for a few days and see if the oil indicator settles to the normal position - If it still shows over-full, you should ask the Porsche Dealer to take some oil out and return it at the correct level. In any car, overfilling with oil can damage it - and in a performance car there is more possibility to do so......... Good to hear from another Cayman Owner in the British Isles.

POST 3Original post

Thanks Karel Thank you for your advice, Porsche Belfast are coming to take my car away and drain some oil out. Mind you they maintain that it is their policy to use up to 9 litres in an oil change, but are draining my car to keep me content! David

POST 4Original post

It may be policy "to use up to 9 Litres" (Up to = 8 Litres also?) However, it is appalling that they overfilled (overgenerously) your Cayman.... Glad that you have a result, and can now drive the 'Love of your Life' without worry.
