Due to being stood still for 5 years the clutch was quite heavy so that has been replaced and the RMS has been upgraded for piece of mind.

Sorry this slightly off topic but if you are talking about Diglis Basin the check where the 'affordable' housing is in relation to where you are looking to buy.

Anyway, AT costs and this site doesn't; can't see the harm in using a free service.
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Local to me there are some new build designer 2 bed apartments over looking the River Severn & canal basin. The developer must be desperate for funds because IMO they are well under market value so I want to buy one as an investment.
This sadly means the car has to go.
My question is where to pitch the price?
My opinion after keeping my eye on the market is that 996s have gone back up, infact, did they really get impacted by the credit crunch?
I have seen C2's as low as £10k but they have miles similar to Starship enterprise and not so desired colours. I have even seen recently on PH cars sold at £16 - 20k bracket with biggish miles.
Here are the key plus points on my car:
( MY00 Wreg 996 C2 3.4 )
Basalt Black
Black leather *Sports seats*
Extended leather
Black headlining
Bose surround inc 6-disc CD
Face-lifted front (not because of damage, purely out of preference)
Fully resprayed with Porsche factory paint by a Porsche app. body repairer, lacquered with Dupont (very resistant, way better than standard)
The body is 100% perfect, not a mark.
It has the 18" Carrera classics (lightweight 5-spokes)
New Pirelli N3's all round
FPSH
Only 20150 miles at the moment... climbing slowly
Due to being stood still for 5 years the clutch was quite heavy so that has been replaced and the RMS has been upgraded for piece of mind.
The MAFS & coil packs have also been done (Bosch OE)
The car owes me no less than £22k and I have had it less than a year, it drives perfect, infact like new, no squeaks or rattles and trust me it pulls like a train.
So, all that taken into consideration what do you think is a good price tag to start at?
Sorry this slightly off topic but if you are talking about Diglis Basin the check where the 'affordable' housing is in relation to where you are looking to buy. Apparently there is a lot of grief between them and the owners who paid for their luxury pads.
Could be a reason for the discount?
Hope you''re right. Dealer I spoke to yesterday said 996 prices had taken a hammering ... but when it comes to dealing with dealers, one needs to feel comfortable that you are dealing with a dealer and not a stealer.
There are a few sites where you can value a car and also playing Autotrader Roulette will give you an idea of where asking prices stand.
I know of an immaculate early 3.4 tip with 20K that is on the market asking £24K. It caused histerics with a few here so ...
Sounds like a really nice car and am sure everyone here will be pleased if you get the £20K you want.

Bad news is you gotta cash it for a boring property. Your posts will be missed, they have been really useful!!! But yeah 20k car I agree you will get higher end teensfrom the right buyer
There is a danger that you have over-updated your car, which might not appeal to the buyer wanting to spend £20k on an early 996. Most people give bonus points for originality, and despite the fact that the work you have done may have been to the highest standard, it will limit the number of potential buyers. It
will
appeal to somebody out there, but as Jeff says, it might take a while to find that person.
My experience is to forget the free ads on here and PH and put it on the Autotrader web site. When I sold my C2 last year I got no response after 3 weeks on 911UK, PH, and PCGB. I put it on AT, and sold it within 4 days of the advert going live.
Thats odd. I sold my 930 through this site and have had nothing but stealers, dealers and canvassers through AT. All to do with price IMHO.
My personal view is that sites such as this one are going to appear on the radar of those that have more than a passing knowledge of
Porsche cars, so it could be a good place to advertise an unusual car.
Anyway, AT costs and this site doesn't; can't see the harm in using a free service.
It can't do any harm, but I think that the widest audience for 996s is AT. The majority of buyers will look there first, and a lot won't find specialist sites like this until after their purchase. And those who look here will be keeping their eye on AT as well. There are (currently) 41 996's for sale on here, and over 1000 on AT.
Also, a 930 is a different animal to the 996 and will have a completely different buyer profile.
Just my tuppence worth.
edit: And put "Strictly No Canvassers" in the ad. It deters most dealers, and gives you the opportunity to be bl**dy rude to any that do phone.
The spec condition history upgrades ticks slot of buyer boxes

Sad to here you need to part with your porker Lloyd
Shame that selling such a car attracts so many Richard heads!
I hope you are right about that. It would be a shame to sell your car and find out that they weren't well under market value. I believe that there will be affordable housing in that development too (thanks to GB and his cronies) and this will always bring problems for owners of the other properties.
I have personal experience of this but thankfully only from a perspective of renting. I rented a beautiful apartment in a new development in a really nice canal side location in Hertfordshire and later found out that something like 20% of it had been designated "affordable housing".
The result: Stolen mountain bikes (including mine) and vandalised cars/stolen alloys (including mine) in the "secure" underground car park and groups of chavs/yobs hanging around the communal areas at all hours drinking cans of Tesco's value lager. I moved out. A large proportion of those apartments are for sale or for rent and have been since it was completed. I know the whole housing market has tanked since then but this place has been hit harder than most.
In the end, it's up to you but be careful in assessing the market value of these new developments, that's all I'm saying. And good luck with selling the 996 if you decide to go ahead.
