I use an 11mm flare crowfoot socket, with a universal joint and a long extension to reach the clutch bleeder.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

I read that ther manual transmission uses the same brake fluid for the clutch. Las year I did a complete brake fluid changer in my Boxster triptronic.(easy) How different will be in the Manual? do I need to bleed the clutch? add more fluid?

POST 2Original post

If you can flush the brake fluid on a Tip, doing it on a manual isn't much harder. Basically, the only difference is that you have another bleeder screw to deal with, on the clutch slave cylinder (the clutch and brake share the same fluid reservoir). I use an 11mm flare crowfoot socket, with a universal joint and a long extension to reach the clutch bleeder. It's easier than trying to reach up there with a shorty box wrench, especially with a hose on the bleeder screw.

POST 3Original post

Where is located the clutch slave cylinder ? Also how much brake fluid is needed?

POST 4Original post

motoadve, Search the articles section for "clutch flush". I wrote an article on this very topic. It doesn't take much more fluid to bleed the clutch in addition to the brake calipers. I can do all 5 with one can of ATE. I do not feel that it is necessary to flush the clutch slave as often as the brakes. But then my brakes get flushed several times per year. The clutch is not dealing with the heat of the brakes. Be safe though and don't follow my example of using cinder blocks as jack stands. ;-)
