Suggestion

The SPS allowed you to have a number of programmed maps that you can change using the PC software and also reset back to factory for those little trips to the OPC.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

has anyone had a switchable map put on their 996 tt? When I say switchable I mean from factory to map an map back to factory?? If soo who carried out the work and what sort of money did you pay?

POST 2Original post

I "know" someone who has a switchable Revo map on their 996tt. Work was done by Paragon and cost around £1000. PM me if you want more info as the car is under OPC warranty and I am sure the owner wouldn't like to advertise the fact that the car is tweaked.

POST 3Original post

Although not a 'switchable' device I had thoughts of buying an ECU flashing tool. Taking a before copy of the map then having an aftermarket version put on, I could then switch between the two. http://www.talktomycar.co.uk/products/flashing/mj057.htm Off topic a little but how many different maps are there, could a map from say a 53 manual car be copied across to an 03 tip?

POST 4Original post

My car had an outdated map when I bought it, and I updated it to the latest EOBD Tip Map. It occurred to me at the time - what would happen if I chose the X51 map? Ideas anyone? Not sure I fancy DIY mapping, but it's an interesting idea to be able to swap it as you need to, and probably cheaper than the Revo solution. Someone mentioned a device on Renntech which plugs into the manifold air pressure sensor - I presume to trick the DME that there is less boost than there actually is. It looks stupidly simple, and generally when things look to good to be true then they are. Turbo Tuner: http://www.splitsec.com/ List of standard maps for the Turbo (not GT2):

POST 5Original post

Do you know if there is any identification data in the map, like a VIN number that makes it unique to the car?

POST 6Original post

No. To change the Porsche maps, you need the Porsche IPAS security and programming codes for your car. When changing the map, you just select the one you want from the list. In the US it is quite a popular upgrade to put a 996 3.4 engine in a 2.5 Boxster. All they do is remap the Boxster DME with the 3.4 996 map.

POST 7Original post

I had my 996TT remapped with the Revo (they do a free trial before you buy they are that confident) and I also bought the Select Plus for Porsche (with data acquisition). The SPS allowed you to have a number of programmed maps that you can change using the PC software and also reset back to factory for those little trips to the OPC. The car was still under warranty and sold back to the OPC for a 997TT. I still have the SPS as didn't think that the OPC would want to use it :hand:

POST 8Original post

I know someone who has a mapped x50 but was done by the previous owner. Been into the dealership a few times as car under warranty and have never had porsche say anything so far...
