My 2 local dealers are quoting $500 for a 1st service, seems like a ton of $$ for an oil change and a drive around the block. Very interested to know what others have paid and how many DIY or take their cars to independents.
Lots of data on this may be found by performing a simple search.
If it is the two-year service, then the brake fluid also gets replaced, lighting checks, brake inspection, oil change, cabin filter replacement.
If it is just an oil change, ask to just have the oil change.
Routine oil change can run $100-$350 depending on location and the dealership policy.
There is also a nicely written article in the articles section for DIY on just the oil change.
If it is the 2 yr/20k, it is certainly more than an oil change and a drive around the block. Take a look at your maintenance manual that came with the car to see what services and inspections take place. They also check/top-off all of the fluids, including the power steering, which if you track the car, is quite important. Also, the maintenance manual will tell you that if you haven't already, the brake fluid needs to be flushed and bled. This is over and above the 20k service cost at most dealerships. Whether or not it's of value to you, only you can decide. I paid about $450 for the service and another $160 for the brake fluid service here in LV. Despite the fact that I had changed the oil and flushed/bled the brakes in the meantime many times because I track the car, I feel the value of having a certified tech give the car a thorough inspection once every couple of years is valuable to me. During the inspections, they found an oil leak in the driver's-side cam tower and fixed it under warranty. I find the minimum service requirements of about $600
every two years
for a car of this quality, complexity and original cost to be pretty reasonable, all things considered.

Just had my first service and oil change at North Scottsdale Motors in AZ. Cost was $215.00. For the record, this is the first expense for the car. Took it in at 15,000 miles and 18mts old. Have had some expense from bolt in the rear tire and rodent damage but not from general maintence of the car. In 15,000 miles used 1/2 quart of oil. Very pleased with it! They also cleaned the car! Said they never had seen so many grasshoppers on a Porsche, but was glad the car was driven and enjoyed. More dirt than they had seen in a long time!
My first service and oil change at Autobahn Fort Worth, TX was $220. They also fixed the well known "trunk clunk" under warranty.
So the first service is 1yr or 13000 miles for 08 car? Anyone knows any good place in LA for service? And the cost? It would be a bonus if they can provide a rental car
This is the same price I paid for 20k/2yr + brake fluid service a month ago.
Just had my first oil change at Pfaff in Toronto, cost me $285. I took it in at 17k kms. I told a few people how much it cost and they all told me I got ripped off big time. I don't know what to think now..
Not at all, out here in Vancouver, 1st service with MCL Motors in the $350 - $400 range! If you do it in the States, it's around $200 - $250
