Yes. There are rotor lathes. However, Porsche rotors are typically too thin to have allowable thickness after machining some metal from them. It is fairly standard practice to just replace them when they won't simply accommodate new pads. For Dodge, Ford and GM products, especially trucks, there is extra meat. And lots of cars used to have a hub/rotor single-piece that was costly to simply replace. The Cayman just has rotors that can be replaced. I think they run about $100 or so each. Maybe they are even less expensive through other vendors beside Porsche. (Note: Suncoast has Cayman Front Rotor Sets for $289.90)

Used to be two types. One off the car. Eventually they discovered that could lead to a wobble of the disk. Now everyone pretty much uses a machine that turns it on the hub.

Sounds like just buying new rotors is the quick, easy, affordable way to go? I was thinking I could buy the machinery myself and just touch up the rotors when I changed pads. Not cost effective?

The rotor lathe that I used to own and operate spun the rotor while a carbide cutting tool was drug along each surface for an entire pass. The you reset the drive and dial the cut a little deeper. It removed the same amount evenly from both surfaces. And I never had any distortion or wobble. The kind that mount with the wheel on the car are good for some applications too. Buying a lathe for one's own use is a pretty stiff investment for owning just one car. A decent rotor lathe can cost more than a just few brake jobs.
