to their credit they told me to wait until my brake pad low warning light came on so that i get as much out of the pads that are left before replacing the calipers.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi everyone, I was told by my dealer that my pads and discs need changing and after some research I have decided to go for the package from design911 (200 pounds per axle. Has anyone had any experience with the package? I am assuming everything is OEM??? I have also been told that I should replace the disc and caliper bolts. Does anyone know the part numbers for them as there are several according to a workshop manual I looked at? Also how many are needed per disc / caliper? The car is a 996 Carrera 4 2001 Thanks a lot everyone!

POST 2Original post

Seems a bit cheap for OEM discs and pads?? I'd have expected more like £250-300 for genuine discs.

POST 3Original post

2 bolts per disc so 8 in total, part number 999.073.402.01 @ £2.18 each from OPC.

POST 4Original post

am just about to have this done at Strasse in Leeds, cost around £700 i think? to their credit they told me to wait until my brake pad low warning light came on so that i get as much out of the pads that are left before replacing the calipers. haven't asked them if they are OEM or not - i think i just assumed that they would be :?:

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hmm, so i guess 700 pounds if for the replacement of discs, pads and calipers??? Thanks everyone else for the replies :thumb:

POST 6Original post

AFAIK, the genuine/oem are the same items, made in the same factory, just porsche charge you to but them in porsche branded boxes. design911 package is OK ;they supply the same package slightly cheaper and include the shims as well - i found they were the best value;
