Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

As a new owner of a 2002 car, I am stumped by the remote operation of the luggage lid lock. The car has been hiding from salt/snow & ice for the last few weeks and now the button on the keys no longer opens the front compartment. The car is parked under cover and on the battery compensator. The alarm/central locking 'goes to sleep' after a few days, as it should. However, after being unlocked with the key, the doors will lock with the button and set the alarm, but the luggage lock function has deserted me. Both keys are similarly affected. Any ideas?

POST 2Original post

think it's still asleep, don't you need to actually put key in ignition and turn position 1 to awake ?? could be wrong, but that's what I've been doing.

POST 3Original post

If the remote is working on the doors it is definitely out of sleep mode. It sounds like it might be the button on the remote, which is quite a common problem. Take a look at Min's DIY repair in the Technical Articles section.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for your help. I'll venture into the garage, when the temperature creeps above freezing. Got to say, Min's post (which I should have noticed before) is very detailed. Paul.
