Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I am trying to match tires to my wheels on my 2004 C4S. I would like to run Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires but they do not have my exact rear tire size. My C4S is my DD as well. Currently I am running: Wheels: Front 8x18 Rear 11x18 Tires: 225/40 18 295/30 18 Will these fit and work well on my current wheels as a Daily Driver? Front 225/40 18 Rear 265/35 18 Any thoughts or suggestions, thanks in advance? I could just go with Michelin Pilot Sports PS2 but their tread wear is less and rubber is softer.

POST 2Original post

Obviously, the fronts will work, but IMHO, the rear 265/35/18 are not wide enough for the 11" wide wheels. I would think at minimum you'd need 285, but 295 is the best look and fit for your wheels.

POST 3Original post

I have a 2003 CS4 so I have been looking at this question as well for my next tire purchase. I now have PS2s and want to stick with Michelins but the Super Sports seem attractive because of cost, wear and noise. Rears are the question since Michelin does not make a Super Sport 295/30-18. 265/35-18 is the winter tire recommended in the owner’s manual but it is supposed to be on a maximum 10.5” width rim. 11” probably would be OK but not ideal. I have 285/35-18 and 235/40-18 Michelin A/S3 tires on stock rims for my winter tires. They fit with no front rubbing and are less than 2% difference in diameter. I am told that this is ok for the four wheel drive. The car sits ” higher in the back but it looks fine to me. When the time comes I will look at Super Sports in either 285/35-18 or 295/35-18 and 235/40-18. I will be interested in what others think. I also suggest talking with Damon at Tire Rack.

POST 4Original post

I think on a daily use car you should be worried about tire mileage and all weather traction and not about what brand is stamped on them. Michelin and pirelli are going to be the worst to wear out quickly and be more costly. i would buy a good tire ( like I do) and get great mileage and drivability . try bridgestone S04 or toyo or conti or such

POST 5Original post

A good DD summer tire that won't break the bank is the Sumitomo HTR ZIII

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Awesome thanks guys. I am digesting all this great info. @OKB I am looking at Bridgestone Potenzas S02 in the correct size but the wear, comfort and wet rating are kind of weak.
