Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

10 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1Original post

Strange noises coming from under the dash. Probably the airco, I presume. Anyone hearing the same thing? Coolant level maybe to high or too low? 6000 miles from new but the sounds were there from the start.

POST 2Original post

I have a 2006 CS with 20,000 miles and the thing is still rock solid, even over railroad tracks.

POST 3Original post

Good description of the sound. My CS has had that sound since new and still does. It does not seem to be a problem. I would be interested to know what causes the sound if anyone has an opinion!

POST 4Original post

Schlgggggghhgllgh..... ? I get a noise from below the glovebox. Its the A/C Compressor. Doen't happen all the time. Dearler say its normal.

POST 5Original post

Good description of the sound indeed. My Cayman (2008, 3,500 miles) does it too! It only happens once in a while though and A/C is working just fine. While it is only a minor annoyance I'd love to get rid of it. Dealer could not reproduce the sound when I mentioned it while the car was in for an oil change. I might ask them to re-pressurize the A/C system next time the car is in for a service.

POST 6Original post

It IS a good description! I assumed this was just another one of those Porsche idiosyncrasies, a weirdness in the design. If anyone could explain the noise, it would be enlightening. My AC has been problemeatic, though. At first, it was the BEST AC ever--super cold. Then it ran lukewarm and a loose O ring was blamed. Now, it's back to lukewarm and a different dealer is trying to tell me that the output is "suitable." I'll try yet another dealership in the spring...

POST 7Original post

Anyone have an update to this? My car just started doing the same thing every once in awhile and I have a feeling the delaer is not going to be able to duplicate the sound when i take it in on Monday.

POST 8Original post

I believe this is normal. It has been mentioned many times here in the past. Mine does it occasionally. My dealer claims it is normal. The AC works great so I am not concerned.

POST 9Original post

Definately normal, and have the same on my Land Rover and I maybe even on my Audi, so nothing strange as far as I can tell, but just think it's a bit louder due to the Cayman layout. Caymsterdam, congrats on the car! Where you from in Dam? I moved from West to Dubai, and have a house in Diemen and work for a company in Almere.

POST 10Original post

I had a similar noise coming from the right front. It was the AC drain hose rubbing. The dealer attached it better and the problem was solved (2 years ago).
