A set went for just over £800 the other week, that's more than buying direct from a dealer, madness!

My one tip to anyone thinking about doing this is don't get new runners, use the existing ones from your current seats.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

14 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Just installed some alcantara and carbonfibre GT3 style seats purchased from Design911. Followed these intructions from Rennlist http://gallery.rennlist.com/gallery/albuq41 My one tip to anyone thinking about doing this is don't get new runners, use the existing ones from your current seats. I ordered 2 sets of OEM GT3 runners but when they came out the box the looked almost identical to the ones attached to the comfort seats. Plus they didn't come with attaching bolts so I removed the runners and attached to the heavy duty side brackets with existing bolts. So anyone want to buy some BNIB 997 GT3 runners? Overall I'm really impressed with them and got to say thanks to AndyC, Tertius and Dan for the advice and kick up the backside.

POST 2Original post

You just can't stop sinking more money into that car can you

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Honestly, no... I always wanted to do this but kept putting it off. Last time at Bedford my arse was sliding around all over the place even with the CG Lock. Seeing as I'm not going to upgrade the car itself for awhile I thought this would be a worthwhile thing to do pre 'Ring. Plus I can always sell the seats on ebay after. A set went for just over £800 the other week, that's more than buying direct from a dealer, madness!

POST 4Original post

Having seem them in the Flesh, the alcantara and carbonfibre GT3 style seats look better than OEM GT3 seats !

POST 5Original post

But they are not as comfortable :hand: [At least - not to my fat arse anyway...]

POST 6Original post

Well done Stuart - :thumb: Look the nuts. Roll over bar in the rear next ?

POST 7Original post

Stuart - You lead by example on how to wave the recession!! :thumb: Come winter though without the heated seats, you arse is going to be a tad cold!! You have a way with the mods you do on the car.. - Looks superb!

POST 8Original post

Well done that man :thumb: Make some difference don't they, just have to see if we're able to walk after the drive to Germany though lol

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

You certainly need a slim build to fit in them, a very snug fit! Not likely, that might be a step too far :?: They won't be as nice as the heated seats but the alcantara will be warmer than nothing... I hope... I think we'll be comparing notes about that, spent a good few hours in them so far and no complaints yet. Just wondering how the material will wear especially compared to your leather. :thumb:

POST 10Original post

Very nice indeed Stu! I too have some new seats in the Golf although not as nice as yours. :thumb:

POST 11Original post

They looked superb Stu when I saw them on Saturday...

POST 13Original post

I am sure that I saw something a while back (think it may have been renntech) that had DIY instructions for adding heating to GT3 buckets... :?:

POST 14 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Here it is GT3 Heated Seat DIY ... Looks like ALOT of work :?
