Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi all, I'm hoping that someone can point me in the right direction with a minor but annoying problem. For some reason my headlight washers have decided to stop spouting any water. One trip they were working fine, the next time I tried them I got nothing. When you press the lever forwards you get the motor noise but no "squirt". Oddly there is no water being deposited on the floor either so I think that probably rules out a hose popping off (or does it?). Any thoughts / advice on where else to look please? Ta Guy

POST 2Original post

Couple of things it could point to... - Pipe got residue which has stop the fluid in the process. - The actual head may be a bit cogged. Use a pin and give the head a little poke around. - If you have recently toppped up and used the wrong fluid mix this can cause the fluid to be either too thick or light. Try taking the headlamp out and then pressing it? Im sure there is a connecting pipe somewhere :?: (sorry - Dont have headlight washer myself)

POST 4Original post

You know they gotta be the most pointless extra on a 911 Mine has them and I never use them cuz they seem a bit wasted on sunny day trips, and I never tour in crappy weather/roads, but hope you manage to sort yours any way!!!

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I agree they are pointless but without them working I can't renew the warranty. I could pay the OPC to fix but at £200+ its expensive for what I'm sure is a simple issue I haven't used anything but the supplied (and charged for) Porsche screen wash that comes with the service! Any other pointers people?

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

OK, having had a look at things over the weekend the motors all appear to be functioning correctly (and you can hear them kick in) and the headlight washers "pop" up as they should however there is no water coming out! There is no water leaking onto the driveway so I am assuming there must be a blockage in the system somewhere rather than a hose being loose / disconnected. Can anyone suggest where to start looking? Are there any filters etc that get blocked? As the windscreen washers work fine I am assuming the issue to be after the pipework splits from these to the headlight washers. Thanks

POST 7Original post

If the pressure is getting through enough to pop up the nozzle, then maybe it's just the nozzle jets that are blocked.

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for the suggestion, I will take another look. Oddly, when I tried the washers yesterday, when they first popped up they did "spurt" a very small amount of fluid but only a small amount and it didnt come out under any pressure (god this sounds bad, in a dodgy blue movie kind of way!)

POST 9Original post

You only have to worry if they spurt before popping up!!

POST 10 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I can assure you there is no premature leakage going on  I can't really see where you might put a pin in though, all I can see is a fairly large gap (obviously to create a wide angle spray).

POST 11Original post

Why don't you pop the headlight out and remove the feed tube to the nozzle. If water comes out when you activate the washers, then you know it's a blocked nozzle, and if it doesn't then you need to delve deeper.
