Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I'm asking on behalf of a friend of mine, so apologies for lack of detail.
He says it is slightly lumpy when cold, which disappears when warmed-up, but when accelerating getting to around 5k suddenly all power goes (like hitting a rev-limiter).
Is this an obvious/easy one, or is a visit to a specialist the first step?
Thanks :thumb:

Sounds like Coil pack or MAF to me. Nothing major to worry about. However I am sure someone will come along to correct me shortly
MAF - where is it - there is a sensor on the way from the airbox to the manifold - is that it and if so any tips for cleaning it?
Any advice appreciated
Cartman, do a search on the forum. I've started it for you so here's the link for just one of the threads:

Update from owner:
The garage I bought the car from (with 12 month warranty) have serviced and fixed the 996 - they replaced the MAF and Oxygen sensors - and boy has it made a difference - it flipping flies now! All done FOC and not the slighest hint of quibble.
Not an OPC I should stress
