Read evidence and context

Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

At first I thought I bent one of the gold clips that I was reading about, but after taking it apart and replacing the keyboard with the board from the spare key, I realized it does the same thing.

These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Key Fob Question
Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

Hey guys.. managed to somehow get the key to the Cayman wet. Once I took it all apart and cleaned everything and the put it back together, the fob now blinks as if you’re pressing one of the buttons. At first I thought I bent one of the gold clips that I was reading about, but after taking it apart and replacing the keyboard with the board from the spare key, I realized it does the same thing. With that being said, is there anyplace or anyone that would repair the circuit board? I really don’t want to buy a completely new key for a back up. Thanks in advance.

POST 2Original post

Not the I know of. Unfortunately the chip on the circuit board is "tied" to your car. Change the chip and it is a trip to the dealer for a computer reprogram. Before you do that, pull the battery out and throw the key in a ziplock bag full of (uncooked) white rice. It is basically a desiccant that will pull any remaining moisture off of the circuit board. Leave it in overnight and try the key again the next day.

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
