Clutch now changed but whilst doing the job I found that the piece of metal I had run over had scraped the floor pan and hooked onto the clutch line causing it to kink.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I found out why my clutch failed prematurely, several weeks back I could not avoid a piece of metal lying in the road, as I went over ther was a horrid noise underneath, I pulled over but could see nothing. The car seemed ok so I ignored it. I then noticed when pulling away hard I developed a clutch burning smell, this progressed and the other week the clutch gave up the ghost and started slipping quite bad. Clutch now changed but whilst doing the job I found that the piece of metal I had run over had scraped the floor pan and hooked onto the clutch line causing it to kink. This would have been the cause of the clutch as the retrun flow was too weak. Pics:

POST 3Original post

Good grief what are the odds of that happening! What makes it even worse is having to renew the clutch because of it. That's real bad luck. :nooo:
