Hi all ,
How do i activate or see
TPMS
on my
987.2
? I browse through the entire function list and i can only see LIMIT , INFO , OIL , SETTING , CHRONO .
Thanks for your pointers.
The
TPMS
was most likely deactivated by previous owner using something like a Durametric. You need to find someone with a
Durametric Pro
to switch it back on. A dealer or a shop with access to
PIWIS
can also do it.
I personally have it disabled on my
Cayman
and don't miss it at all.

Thanks for your response , whats the thought disabling it ? wouldnt it be more convenient to know your tyre pressure ?
These sensors can be a pain in the rear-end. They are not very accurate, require replacement when
battery
dies and add significant expense to a set of wheels. For example I have a winter set and a track set in addition to my street wheels. Installing sensors in all these wheels will cost me $1000 maybe?
I believe every driver should have a tire gauge and check tire pressure regularly.

I've replaced my sensors, including installation, for $250 just a couple years ago. The first set lasted 7 years and this set is now fine after 3 years. Dealers, aka stealers, will charge a ridiculous amount for the same service. It's not that much trouble.
Maybe just dead batteries. Most any tire shop can replace the batteries and test to make sure they transmitting. Once confirmed all you havre to do is go through the L stalk menu to initialize your sensors. It takes about 5 minutes and you are golden.
At first I thought
TPMS
was just a gimmick but after owning this car for a while I LOVE them and have them on all my wheel sets on all cars. I have picked up a couple of nails over the years and the
TPMS
alerted me right away. Also while running morning sessions at the track I can quickly look down to check pressures and know that I need to pit and adjust them a bit to get hot pressures dialed in. I see these as a real-time compliment to, not a replacement for a good quality gauge.
YMMV
Unfortunately, the batteries in
Porsche
TPMS
units are sealed and NOT replaceable. Not sure if that's true with other brands. The entire sending unit must be replaced. As long as they are not purchased from
Porsche
, they are affordable and worth it.
TPMS
may not have been standard in 987.2s sold in Kuala Lumpur. It’s been legislated as standard in the U.S. on all cars Since 2007, but still isn’t legally required by transport Canada on cars sold in Canada (although most manufacturers selling cars in the States and Canada add it anyway).
