I'm thinking of replacing my PCM with a headunit, specifically one that supports CarPlay . I like the reviews for the wireless Alpine CarPlay unit, perhaps I will go with that. I will use my existing Bose amp . But what happens to the car related features in the PCM when it's removed? Things like DRL's, interior light settings, rear wiper settings, stuff like that?

I replaced my Bose head unit with a Pioneer AVH -2330 NEX which has Apple CarPlay and love it for the most part. Only thing so far I don’t like is your head screen will just mirror your iPhone screen so if you are in maps, but want to go to emails on your phone, your screen changes on the Pioneer screen. As to the PCM functions, the only thing I have observed is you can no longer see the various things displayed in your speedo screen. Most are still there like TPMS, distance, mpg, etc., but no nav system interface. Remember, with the Bose amp , you will have to use a MOST HUR unit.

Thanks Rosa. Isn't mirroring something you can turn on and off? Or do you want it on so that you can see your maps? It makes sense that there is no Nav info on the speedo screen. What does it say? Just the normal "Route guidance not active" message? I'm asking about the settings that you can find in the PCM when you press Main, then Set, then choose individual memory. You can turn DRL's on or off there, you can set your preferences for when/how the doors lock and the interior light settings, etc. Are they just gone and do they stay at whatever setting they were on when the PCM was removed?

I just got my PCM replaced. I found out that you lose the car related functions in the PCM .
