I'm struggling to find a wiring harness to be able to connect this JVC head unit with my
Bose
factory system. 2007 base
Cayman
. The
Bose
has the fiber optic line. Anybody familiar and can help?
I've got a backup camera to go with it.

Please try using the search function first, as this topic has been discussed repeatedly.
Euro Motor speed (Loi) markets a plug&play kit.
Suncoast
(a P-9 sponsor) also sells it.

Thank you for the info I'll try to locate those sellers and find it.
Thanks for the light-handed response regarding searches. Apparently I'm not very adept at searching this forum that's what I meant by "struggling to find". Here's all that comes up from a search within the 987 forum on here (see Pic)
Instead of trying to find a MOST interface you could just get a separate 5-channel amp and bypass the whole MOST/
BOSE amp
setup. I did that with my
Boxster
.
What five channel amp did you use? I have an '14 base
981
with CDR and
Bose
installed and have been interested in replacing the head unit.
I replaced my
PCM
and
Bose amp
with
Kenwood
X801-5 amp and DDX9903S head unit. So nice being in the modern age lol.
Funny thing is - I just got a '03 Mercedes SL with a Command unit even worse than
PCM
. However, I am keeping the head unit and going with a little BT receiver and Clarion equalizer running through the AUX port.
Thanks for that idea and info. I hadn't even thought about bypassing it.
Thanks! I will check that out.
I went through this last fall... Make the decision early - How dirty do you want to get, and how much wire do you want to run through the car? Do you want a sound stage or are you looking to just get some decent sound and a few conveniences?
I opted to keep the
Bose amp
and speakers and went with the NAV TV MOST adapter - $600+, but I barely got my finger tips dirty and all the work was in the original radio cavity. As for the wiring harness - Grab a harness designed for the Non-
Bose
stereo. You'll depin most of it because you only need a few wires from it. You'll also want to grab a fuse tap because you have to run switched power from the fuse block (down by your left foot) for at least one of the leads (mine split to go to the switched power for the head unit as well as the NAV unit). I didn't have to cut a single wire - everything was just mating adapters... Most of my time was spent on my workbench trimming the leads, and soldering/heat shrinking them.
Just replacing the head unit makes a big difference! And - It's a loud car to begin with...
I recently installed this same unit in my
987.2
. A picture guide to what I did can be found in the link below. You will have to start at the last picture and work your way backward to see the order of the progress. Let me know if you have any questions.

The actual head unit doesn't matter. Most of them have the same basic connections. Add in that you're either going to be using a HUR MOST adapter, or going to a 5 channel amp - you're into an advanced wiring scenario. When I ordered my head unit from Crutchfield I told them it was a non-
bose
car - this gave me the harness adapter at no charge. I gathered all of my pieces and parts, had them on my workbench, and grabbed all of the manuals, packaging, etc and took a good hard look at the wiring diagrams. Go online and find a pin out diagram for the stock radio. Take the time - Make yourself a schematic diagram. There's a lot of wires - Head unit connector, car harness, Ebrake simulator, MOST unit, CANBUS leads, fuse box jumper... Most of the pins in the free adapter aren't used for a
Bose
car but it's a cleaner install if you have the mating connectors - I soldered and heat shrunk everything on the workbench ahead of time and checked for continuity, dummy installed it in the car (head unit sitting in the passenger seat), made sure it worked, took it out of the car and removed all of the unused leads in head unit and car connectors (mostly speaker leads). I hate cutting wires in the car so I soldered contacts for the 2 CANBUS leads for the MOST adapter and inserted them into the connector block in the car (I faked the connector block with zip ties and shrink sleeve)... Not that I'll ever put the stock unit back in, but if I upgrade this one or need to replace it it'll be a breeze to do it.
