Suggestion

If they replace the coil packs with the later thicker ones, I found the 996.1 heat shields no longer fitted.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

12 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • 911uk: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 2Original post

All sounds pretty good :thumb: Out of curiosity what's a car like yours worth 'stateside'?

POST 3Original post

If they replace the coil packs with the later thicker ones, I found the 996.1 heat shields no longer fitted. One to watch. My car seemed to have a mix of older style and new style, so I keep a new spare in the garage.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I paid $26,500 for it in March. Things have gone up (bizarrely) since then though so maybe a bit more. I think I stole it at that price! This is a proper sports car and a proper Porsche!

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I really don't have a clue here! I must be honest! I'm not even sure - yet - if the car will feel any different after new coil packs or if its just maintenance. I guess we will see soon!

POST 6Original post

...hey Jay, Crossing my fingers for Trumpy :floor: No real need to change the coil packs if not split but while in there...cheap in the UK ? ...and would not change the two row ims bearing if it's okay... Take care buddy

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

BAHAHAHAHAHA! What WAS it that Donald said about COVID19 being behind us? Thanks for the advice. I'm in Connecticut actually!

POST 8Original post

Cheers. I've since been back and watched your original purchase video. Coincidentally I paid almost exactly that sum (£22,500) for my 48k mile 2002 996C4 Tip 11 years ago. Values tumbled between 2012 and 2015 but have risen steadily since. I reckon that your car would be worth a similar amount in the UK now.

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

They're a steal! I can't believe how much car I got for my money. DOn't you feel the same way?

POST 10Original post

Watched that as far as I could manage?!? I disagree with the ims bearing things been done but that's a whole new hornets nest. The coils need replacing if there's an issue not just because they have introduced newer style ones, you don't need the bloody engine out to do them it'll be neither more nor less a simple task if the engines in situ and did that guy really say the belt gets 'dry rot' ?!?😂

POST 11Original post

sounds like there is absolutely nothing wrong with your car at all, other than it needs a service
