In the market for a CS and was wondering if the xenons can be added if it did not have this option from the factory? I know in the 986 & 996 the litronics can be added as
plug
n play without the auto leveling feature. How about the croc? TIA
Yes, but only selected kit works. If you do a search, you will find the saga that I went through. Get the mid-range kit from Xtralights.com.
One more thing. You can't get bi-xenon retrofit. You will need to retain the factory high-beam.
HHHmmm.... I just pulled the front end apart on my CS. The
headlights
were the easiest thing in the world to remove. From inside the front trunk, pull back the carpet, remove the
plug
, and give a 1/4 turn ccw. POP. Grab headlight and pull up & out... there you go. If the connector is the same... Drop in the BiXenon lights from the dealership. Voilla.
If you were in the area, I could swap a headlight and see. It would take me about 90 seconds...
Good luck.
Ahem, you are forgetting the ballasts and added wiring....it's not just a light bulb change.
I do believe that balast is located INSIDE the headlight. High tension is not good to run long distances. Also, HID inrush current peaks pretty high, but has lower overall current consumption than Halogen. Power requirements are not an issue. If the connector is the same... My guess is they may swap right out. Easier for manufacturing too.
Like I said... Drive on over and let's take a look!
I believe wiring looms are different for cars with xenon and cars without, as is the light control module. Dealers have quoted incredibly high rates for full retrofits. Plus, each of those light housings with bulbs, etc, is insanely expensive. Way cheaper to do the aftermarket retrofit. - Suneet
I have the Xenons... Take a pic of the connector without Xenons. We can see how they compare.
I wouldn't get the aftermarket ****. Not a fan of replacing a bulb and jury rigging the wiring. Not fun.
I'll save you the trouble big mellon, I just looked at the front end wiring diagram. The connector pins and the connections on the front end control unit are very, very different. In fact, the xenon lights have twice the amount of wiring due to the stepping, dipping motors, aux flashing high beams, bixenon control flap, etc.

well i no its not a porsche but this info might help.
ive just fitted a new passenger headlight (standard) to a xenon car (
audi
a4 q) for a customer at his request. its a old vehiche and he didnt want the £500.00 bill for xenon. so now he has odd lights , although i did fit a blue h7 bulb to the new unit.
on the
audi
, all the wiring switching and control is built into the headlamp power back located in the headlight. the wiring conections are the same for all models.
have also seen the same for other manufactures.
dont no about pork though.
