Been running these along with EBC yellow pads for the past year and very pleased with the performance.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Euro' s seem to stock at least 3 brands of brake discs. Pagid, Mintex and Brembo. Could anyone advise on their personal experience of these brands on a 996? Thanks
Brembo are great pads and designed with performance cars in mind and are Porsche OEM, in fact your Porsche brake callipers are made by Brembo and I only have good things to say about them having had them on both my 911's and my old Boxster, but just a heads up they are soft pads so make a fair bit of dust but that comes with having better braking ability.
Pagid aren't bad either and are common on your average OEM German car VW's and the like and are good street every day pads but not quite the same performance as Brembo as they are harder so lest dust longer life span I've used them plenty on daily's in the past, perfectly good performance.
Mintex are cheap hard pads, I use them on my old Passat beater but only cause I can get a full set of pads for all four corners for £15, I would not buy them for my 911 though.
Personally I would go either Brembo or Pagid, I have had Pagid on a 997 and just about to put Brembo's on the rear as they have had good reviews on here, the Pagid were good disc but the Brembo's I have seem to have a better / thicker paint finish to the central hub so I am expecting less rust quickly. Not sure what size you are after but check Autodoc as well the 299mm Brembo's for the rear of some 996 are only £31.49 each plus postage.
I fitted sebro which are available at ecp I think and design911. They're oe manufacturers and I don't track the car so they're more than up to the job. They also have painted centres so still look good two years later! Rusted centres looked shite on a fiesta let alone a Porsche!!!
I went with Brembo as the hub section and the vented centre section of the rotor are coated/painted which gives some protection against corrosion. Been running these along with EBC yellow pads for the past year and very pleased with the performance.
Pads were textar as the 993 but discs from several suppliers depending on age which I think translates to depending on who Porsche could get the best deal from at the time!! I was only making the point that not all discs are coated in the centre but oe spec ones tend to be. Personally I wouldn't want rusted centres on my work van but maybe I'm just a little too ocd!!
Lot of talk about pads when your topic is about discs. Apart from the coating used on the discs I can't see there being any difference. They're all made to the same dimensions out of cast iron.
I stuck a set of this lot on the back earlier this year and as yet can't fault anything. The Discs are made by Meyle and are coated silver all over (until I painted the bells black):

Fit Pagid discs to the front 18 months ago and can't fault them either. Paid £90 for the pair off CP4L.
Car's driven daily and hard but never tracked.
I've done a lot of work with different brake discs, and as Alex says, the only variation is whether you get coated ones or not. The corrosion on the bells is ugly and comes on rapidly if you get uncoasted ones. If you drive the car very hard then drilled discs will crack, but even when cracked they don't seem to fail outright. For this reason, my choice would be a Sebro slotted disc without holes.
There is a large variation in performance between different pads. The OE pads are Textar, which work fine and have nice feel to them and are cheap. There is a lot of good stuff on the internet regarding EBC yellows and Pagid RS29s as good fast road pads.
I fitted a full set of discs and pads last week.
Brembo pads and Mintex discs (which are fully coated, by the way)
Parts cost was about £250 from ECP with their never ending sale :thumb:
Brake feel and response are improved. No excessive dust, no squeaks.
Also, just in case you aren't aware, Mintex, Pagid and Textar (and others) are all part of TMD Friction. So are all probably all the same anyway
Going to order full set of discs & pads later
996.2 targa - am I right in thinking fronts are 318mm? (not with car so measuring not an option!)
