Not to thread Jack but I own a tool set including that nut looking thing with the wire thing on it.

Suggestion

I think Porsche really made it easy to set the timing of this engine, as opposed to the 928 dial indicating PITA procedure.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Does anyone have a photo of a 5 chain cam holder from the LN tool kit in use that they could post? Thanks in advance

POST 2Original post

the cam holding tool is by Porsche, not LN: Some people fabricate everything needed............

POST 5Original post

The "cam holder tool" on the head included pic JFP posted is not a proper "cam timing" holder. The one in the tool pics is the one I copy machined to set my cams. It took a little eyeballing and then precision measuring, but my first part just needed thinning to make it fit like a glove. I think Porsche really made it easy to set the timing of this engine, as opposed to the 928 dial indicating PITA procedure.

POST 6Original post

Not to thread Jack but I own a tool set including that nut looking thing with the wire thing on it. I never knew what it was for until I saw this pics. It's for those people who have a busted off center bolt on their IMSB, allowing you to slip that into the hole and then set up the usual ims bearing puller. Friggin genious. Back on topic, yes the smaller of those two flat cam locks is for the five chain.

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
