$3400 for 2Years or 24000 miles....Just replaced the starter for 1k, no problem......I don't ordinarily buy warranties, but these things have potential problems that are expensive to repair...

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Why don't you use the Google to see if any are available and what they cost? I have one for the engine and transmission on a 2006 997 .....with about 50k miles... $3400 for 2Years or 24000 miles....Just replaced the starter for 1k, no problem......I don't ordinarily buy warranties, but these things have potential problems that are expensive to repair...
Best extended warranty is
1. Upgraded IMSB to LN Solution or Retro
2. Upgraded AOS to UAOS Track
3. Replace oem water pump with a new oem water pump every 5 years
4. Run damn good oil and change it 2x a year.
5. Drive the car like you mean it.
Danica Patrick stands by Endurance Warranty & Ice-T for Car Shield. They wouldn't advertise for them if they didn't use it themselves. I now have both, for both vehicles, double protection. Who's the sucker now?
Extended warrantees are for suckers. If it won't make it out of the manufacturer's warranty I don't want it. A used car is purchased as-is. If I can't accept the risk I am out.
I also think extended warranties for our cars has to be as big a ripoff as the warranty they offer for my new electric razor, but in any case, Endurance won't cover any car older than 2004 .
Thats pretty much the philosophy I have as well. Do your homework on the car, negotiate a good price, buy it, drive it, maintain it and fix it if it breaks. Or dont, and just sell it as-is. Finding a warranty that will actually cover what is liable to go wrong on these for a price that makes economic sense, well, I dont even know if thats possible.
I totally agree, I NEVER buy warrantees. My wife however does. She bought one vacuum cleaner from Best Buy like 20 years ago and with it the extended warranty. Every few years something breaks on the vacuums, and instead of fixing it, they just refund and give store credit towards a new one. We've had like 10 new vacuums.
She bought the extended warranty on a used Jetta sportswagon a long time ago. I told her she was just throwing her money away but a few years later the transmission started grinding and sure enough it was totally dead and needed replacing. It was replaced under the warranty for $500 deductible. Less than a year later, it broke again!! And they replaced it again (under the parts warranty of the transmission). Eventually we contacted a lemon lawyer and we got a buy out from VW as sounds like this has happened a lot, then ditched the wagon. Somewhat ironically, our friends had the exact same issue on their Audi A4 (ie VW). They didn't have a warranty and had to pay out of pocket...
She bought a used Outback last year. They traded us a reduction in price of car if we bought the Subaru extended warranty. I didn't ask any questions when she said yes....
So will I buy a warranty myself going forward? NO! Gotta stand for something in this world!
I bought an extended 5 year warranty on a 2022 Mini Cooper S. I don't think I'll come out on the wrong side of that one...one oil filter housing replacement and I'm back in black.
FWIW, I bought a 6/60k warranty for my 2004 C4S in 2009 for $3500. It easily covered $10k if not $15k in repairs (3x RMA, SAI, front wheel bearing, AC leak, and I forget what else). Car was still under CPO warranty when I bought it, so car was effectively under warranty for 10.5 yrs. Well worth it.
that being said I have never purchased a warranty on anything else except AppleCare for my phone and watch (which has not paid for itself).
I would be impressed if you found a company that offered a warranty on a 20+ year old car. Im not sure that is a thing.
Yeah, I have no issues with purchasing an extended warranty on any of my cars. Every one paid for itself big-time, including my 996, back in the day. Given the complexity of all new cars, it makes financial sense unless you only plan on keeping the car for a couple of years and trading it in.
I just got a quote yesterday from Premier for a 2005 911 with 75k miles (I don't own the car, just used as an example). 180/month for 30 months then continues for another 30 months for total of 100k additional miles. Works out to about $1k year. The list of covered items is exctensive. $100 Deductible. My issue is it probably would NOT cover bore scoring, unless the bore scoring destroys the engine...LOL.
Thanks for the info. It would be interesting to see what it actually covers and what the rules are wrapped around what it doesnt cover. Out of curiosity, I'll have to take a look.
First page of the contract at the bottom should have the name of their underwriter, would love to know who. I found their BBB page, C rating, not accredited, only 4 years in business... not that great.

You need to be very careful, a 20 year old vehicle with almost 80K miles? Theres a reason it is hard to find extended warranty coverage for it... if 9 out 10 providers say no, I'd be cautious the single one who says yes, just my professional opinion.
